Dimethicone-free and silicone-free skincare

THERE IS NO DIMETHICONE, NOR SILICONE, NOR RELATED INGREDIENTS IN SKINTIFIQUE PRODUCTS 🤩

Dimethicone is a type of silicone, which are also called siloxanes. These agents are a kind of hybrid between synthetic rubbers and synthetic plastic polymers.

Silicones and dimethicone are often used in cosmetics and various personal care products to make them soft and smooth.

Other common names of dimethicone-type ingredients are: silicone, methicone, pheny trimethicone, cyclomethicone, dimethiconol, dimethicone copolyol, cyclopentasiloxane, cyclohexasiloxane.

The main reason for using silicones in cosmetics are:

- It creates an occlusive layer on the skin (like plastic) thereby limiting water evaporation. In fact, it is one of the main reasons why they are so common: together with other occlusive ingredients such as mineral oils, they are key elements in the traditional technology used by manufacturers to create moisturisers. It is only recently that new technologies, such as Skintifique's Activifique, have been discovered, allowing to offer very efficient moisturisers that do not need using occlusive ingredients;

- It makes skincare products feel silky, smooth and easy to apply without an oily film on the skin.

- It resists heating and UV lights.

Skintifique products do not use dimethicone, nor silicone, nor any related occlusive ingredient derived from petrochemistry. Here is why.

First, Skintifique products provide superior moisturising thanks to the technologies they are based on, without the need for traditional occlusive layers.

Second, dimethicone and related ingredients are not great for health: they are occlusive and therefore prevent the skin from breathing normally.
